Purple peony
salutes a radiant sun
shuns the dark of night
My basil garden
Invaded with rosemary
Wards off mosquitos
Tiny buds open,
And then a lovely flower,
Soon a fading hue.
flowers we gathered
dying slowly in vases
they remember dirt
walking through the park
dewdrops reflect the full moon
winter night in bloom
A bee-laden bloom
among so many roses;
why burden this one?
emerald garden
water, lush moss and ferns thrive
revitalizing
vibrant flowers bloom
opalescent wings flutter
feeding on nectar
still, murky water
underneath the plastic cup
a lotus blossom
My summer garden
Romaine lettuce straight and tall -
Friends come to my gate
Beneath a Peace rose,
Among the fallen petals
Ants in fierce battle.
Wine red blossom spikes
advertise nectar and rest
stop south-bound Monarchs.
poinsettia petals
water gushes from spigot
a fragrant breakup
Iris flaunting furls
rainbow fields of golden rings
bloom in perfumed eyes
damp-blackened branches
flooded woods brimming with drink
death rot sharp, blooming
stack-stone flower box
summer's lease drifting away -
first crisp yellow leaf
A ghost of the past,
Orange blossoms filigree
Florida's night air.
hummingbird hovers
over flower's sweet nectar...
lost in the moment
Flowers soaked in bleach -
The inviolate men drown
In floodtide waters.
Angel-winged petals
lift lacey fern fronds, fat dew,
baptism at dawn
wind swept summer storm
dogwood tree in full blossom
pink petal cascade
Cactus garden blooms
Thorny greens, yellow wonders
Willy-Nilly charm
pollinators buzz
rhododendron blooms ablaze
summer coming soon
unfamiliar sun
neighbors chat about roses
new warmth on our skin
Purple flowers bloom,
The moon watches them at night,
Moonlight keeps them safe.
leaf bud and blossom
the pulse of living returns
thought word and action
Spring rains beat the ground
As flowers escape through cracks
In their asphalt tombs.
single orchid plant
encircled in a glass jar
bibles all around
night blooming jasmine
savors silky, hushed moonlight
scents soft summer nights
A budding flower
Born of callous sunlight's eye
Bearing august fruit
We marry in spring
Petals falling on threshold
Blossoms crown above
A fading flower,
losing color, vibrancy.
Youth's passion grows dim
purple iris blooms
sprinkled with tiny dewdrops
outside my window
overgrown garden -
your wife's cookbook unopened
since her early death
breeze intensifies
fluttering daisy petals
- whirlwind of delight
my first Texas spring
nature napped, yawned brown dust bloom
rebirth of rebirth
