while you've been gone
I share the porch with spider
as we both keep watch
Butterfly wings flap
Touch base on zinnia sweets
Spirits soar, hope sprouts
Dolphin surfer girl
Intimate sea connection
Makes each wave her own
cloudless winter sky
shimmering sun points on snow
sculpted rabbit tracks
ray of sunshine
the dog digs
beneath the carpet
Your smile is honey
Like a bee I need my fix
Too sweet to resist
Vibrating membranes,
Cicada's chirring tymbals
Mimic tinnitus
cold winter evening
buck-deer stands in churchyard light
his breath comes in clouds
cave painters paint pure
adorn walls with animals
making hunting safe
blue dark bows to light
barn owl glides away to sleep
field mouse skitters free
Old cat purrs softly
Within aging, wrinkled arms.
It is Winter now.
Creek water is high
Still enough space on warm rock
Turtle sleeps in sun
butterflies play tag
in and out the backyard bush
the yellow one wins
female attraction
incessant male mating choir
cicada debut
wild honeysuckle
entice butterflies and bees
on pasture fences
far side of the bed,
the little dog's little breath
where you used to lie
Seashore turtle clutch
Tight knit family unit
Hatchling swims away
walking in the fog
steps ahead, the dog dissolves
the red leash remains
deer season predawn
I pray the skill to bring death
and win forgiveness
three-thirty school bus
our kids long gone to college
dog waits at front door
eight snowy egrets
fish in the Bayou Pierre
glass, cans, a car door
A chill wind brings tears
Nothing brings light to the heart
Like a happy dog
moss covered ant bed
greening the hiding queen's home
lawn mowers look out
A frog in the porch-
trying to escape the cold
Finding no relief
cricket in my wall
safe from freezing rain and wind
calling for a friend
yellow wings outstretched
butterfly tries to capture
weak autumn sunshine
Still waters; a deer...
drinking in his reflection.
Narcissus in bloom.
Yelping coyotes
chase October's gibbous moon
Dog woofs softly, once
grey noise of airplane
deep green cicada night song
synesthetic air
The white rock sits still
Its heart beating fast and loud
At the sight of Fox
A summer ago
Echos of humming bees waltzed
Around my hushed mind
babbling summer creek
floating leaf with clever ant
must have surfing bug
from honeysuckle
shrub to honeysuckle shrub
monarch butterfly
A sanctuary
Butterflies can fly freely
Within their cages
Fish swim through foundries
finally silent beneath
the rising waters
Female beekeeper
Trailing bees like smoke netted
Soft wind: so intent.
