cocooned in gray sheets
I can't begin to fathom
my butterfly days
First springtime cricket
Dawn chorus percussionist
Raindrops answering
Coyotes salivating
Chasing after mighty deer
Running for its life
young fawn so docile
nibbling leaves, a blurred green feast
sunlight shade from trees
a mouse in the wall
shuffling his wee deck of cards:
springtime solitaire
Canopy of snow --
Even the birds are silent.
White cat vanishes.
Secret woodland path
Golden doe and spotted fawn
Hush - Footfalls pass by
Old blue dragonfly
Floats unseen along water
Currents of my dreams
Cat with yellow eyes
on the pillow by my head
stretch to meet the dawn
cricket on my porch
4 AM longing and thirst
full moon sliding past
Bee shadows flutter
Over lavender blossoms -
Summer's end begins
Slanted morning sun
falls on a red butterfly,
wings folded to pray.
Bees pack their hind legs
with pollen from the Daisy
Honey badger smiles
At trail's crest, new views
Shining pond, dragonfly wings
Transcendent delights
What cryptid beats here
Against my glass made of dust
A mummy or moth
Deer pause to listen -
Lullaby of wind whispers
Woodpecker applauds
lonely, lonely night
the old cat curls in my lap
claims me for her own
Floating butterfly
Fresh feathery wings hold her
Poised in the blue sky
the snail slips slowly
over a green garden hose
carrying its home
butterfly flutters
life's quiet tranquil moments
a breath of fresh air
bumbling on flowers
extracting precious nectar
bees feeding freely
From a wire fence
a rabbit slips underneath,
the garden thief rides.
Tulips sprout and bloom
Bear slumbering peacefully
Grass breaks through hard ice
An Icelandic horse
sprints straight, with no gait, across
the frozen tundra.
Golden Aspen leaves
Shimmer round the white-bark tree
Doe eyes turn and stare.
Faded firefly grave
Moonlight in our sky above
Rusty iron fence
Tall the bee balm blooms:
open flowers inviting
hummingbirds' return
bees flit through velvet
sway of sedge and pink foxglove
sun-dried clouds soak earth
I run with the fish
swim with birds and fly with toads
My dreams hold me tight
Under a half-moon
is a determined cricket
live and in concert
A bee-laden bloom
among so many roses;
why burden this one?
squirrel stands on stone
stock-still body, twitching nose
--in a flash, it's gone
Air after rain hangs
Silent. Fawn-spotted birches
Stretch, spindly, to sky.
bee dancing in air
eternal melancholy
a dew in the night
a walk in the wood...
doe with fawn in blackberries...
Madonna and child
butterfly white moon
galaxies waltzing in time
a loon breaks silence
