Lois Elaine Heckman received a degree in Italian from UCLA. She now lives in Italy, where she was a Red Cross nurse and first aid instructor for many years. Among her writing credits are Boston Literary Magazine, Shot Glass Journal, Tilt-a-Whirl, Yale Journal for Humanities in Medicine and Prole. In 2010, she won the New England Shakespeare Festival Rubber Ducky Sonnet Contest.

Patti Herman recently retired from a career that focused on promoting child and family wellbeing so that she could spend more time doing other things that are important to her, including writing. Her poetry has been published in Bramble, the literary journal of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets, and she will have an essay published in a forthcoming book on women's involvement in the resistance movement. Patti and her husband, Bill, can be found at home in Lodi, Wisconsin when they aren't off discovering new places to hike.
