Birds whisper sweet songs
hidden voices in the bark
a choir brings day.
rare morning thunder
biblical sky pelts glass rain
all the leaves look sharp
Hot pavement and tar,
The wind waving, knocking on
Bristling green birch trees.
autumn palette hues
nature's amber draped canvas
masterpiece of leaves
three golden trees sway
atop the steep river bank
haunting mute children
Morning on water
winds blow revelry through leaves
a heron splashes
Four cows munching grass
Lightning bugs blinking in trees
Dusk ? a summer day
the rustle of leaves
quicker than the moon can hide
more naked branches
Wake up, blue willow,
the day, coming through your boughs;
same as yesterday
wood smoke and cut grass,
moist turned earth and lavender,
spruce, pine, and water
words from yesterday
like dead leaves on frozen ground
nutrients of hope
Small, bitter cherries,
From the tree across the fence,
Sow my yard with weeds
Threadbare branches mourn
vestments stolen by chill winds -
melancholy ghosts
windfall cedar trunk
rolled smooth in rain forest moss
decays evergreen
Wind drags across time
pulling at leaves and false teeth
I can barely smile
the tree's silver bark
shining in the moonlit dark
nighttime is talking
between two tall trees
a single fallen oak leaf --
color of sunset
morning summer breeze
a concentric draft ascends
white oak leaves tremble
pretty history?
we leaf through books to find it
the page is torn out
in my apple tree
the blossoms getting closer -
new baby shower
autumn butterflies
the warm golds and crisp crimsons
I mistook for leaves
cherry blossom trunk
our tremors pass through her grip
falling silk coats us
The spring wind dances
Through the pines dislodging cones.
The earth glows and swells.
Wolf on Highway 2
dissolves into the forest
like a bell, unrung
midnight illusion
leafy branches reach skyward
holding moon aloft
Mighty redwood tree
canopies that reach for miles
humbled by their size
Backlit by the moon
Stark skeleton of branches
Pierce the evening sky
Morning dew settles
silver on the last fall leaf?
soon death for rebirth.
Lichen covered tree
sides most stunted and deprived
lessons make us wise
Leopards hunt silent
the breeze carries leaves gone by
the Fox dies alone
snow fallen branches
sway in a cold breeze, feathers
ruffle in a nest
Winter. Old fence felled
by wind rests against an elm
growing bright new moss
all yellow leaves flee
the cold birch limbs above me
stars sprout on her twigs
a hollow pine stump
day of the dead sheltering
a skull shaped mushroom
Chapel in the woods
Empty nests and peeling bark
Nobody to blame
forest flames below
a beautiful tragic view
for those on the hill
