rusting horizon
trees beneath the rising moon,
mists from autumn lungs
The moon lights the stage
Grains of sand dance through the air
Turtles meet the sea
night birds cry warning
beneath these moon-dancing waves
Leviathan sleeps
red-robed cardinal
posing in naked pear tree
cloaked by winter dusk
The sky black with cold
Icy white stars glittering
Sunrise too distant
wings beating the air
moonlight slipping through cloud breaks
winds travelling west
as I near the pond
the turtle head submerges
sky on still water
Sunlight vanishes
Ripe pears sway like jade earrings
Sullen summer storm
Sky, darkened blood, lit
By gauzy silk, saffron bands
Tight around full moon
dawning of the day
negligee at her ankles
the sun for her crown
pre-dawn solitude
in abandoned parking lot
idling Uber car
the etchings of dawn
mellow on the autumn sky
each stroke a facade
Raiment of the sun
sari of baleful yellow
strips shyly to earth
rain wet grey pavers
glisten under the low moon
old night winks at dawn
Sunlight permeates
Cicadas echo in song
Snake basks in the heat
blackberry stained lips,
marinated in moonlight--
fading photographs
here the dawn's Dear John
banded pink orange indigo
lets night down easy
sky of pink and green
indian summer arrives
on silent warm feet
I woke at dawn light
with the flower above me --
now wilted and dead
Go forth and be new
Sun rises, lakes drain, moon falls
Sleep, smile, risk, drain, wake
black necks gray bodies
geese commence the long passage
dawn light on their wings
Everest starlight -
balancing on the stone walls
I find my way home
Misty sky and sea
Kiss amidst the horizon
Breathing in sunsets
a cantaloupe moon
floats above the horizon
fall is in the air
the ineffable
sunrise - witnessed by poets
who try to eff it
Bright autumn sunlight
Ironing out morning chill
Dad lay still and cold
A lone ladybird
promenades across a leaf
in the mid-day sun.
moon dances skyline
each holding the other's hand
swaying with music
Great heron answers
streams of fish, shell, and sunlight.
Quick! A gasp of trout.
mountains stand darkly
a shadow amidst the stars --
silent planes flash past.
Breakfast moon lingers
Indigo mug with slow cracks
Tea before parting
rime of silver frost
recedes as the dawning sun
creeps across green grass
Two girls call a dog
Water ruffles at sunset
Lake brims, heart opens
Meadow lark afield
White moon beam piercing the wing
Flightless bird of sleep
Moon stealth'ly rising
dark night awaits the splendor
of its silv'ry lamp
On a street corner;
We are waiting for a cab,
watching the sun rise.
