Dolphin surfer girl
Intimate sea connection
Makes each wave her own
Silence. Cars passing.
Tea bag crests the brown water.
A sober evening.
The sound of the sea
Poetry to my psyche
Siren's song to soul
Winter where we are
Brings a steady wash of rain
Nobody complains
toes covered in sand
waves rush ashore, then retreat
my serenity
From ice skimmed waters
Mists rise, fusing earth with sky
Under splintered moon
smoking in the rain
up on the old Ford tractor...
hating the thunder
A white flag of foam
Waves far into the distance
Yielding sun to sea
Words collapse on tongues--
wicker baskets of water--
without poetry.
steady rise and fall
ocean seems to be breathing
as if it's alive
sunshine beaten grass
longsweating mass of labor
softly river run
late summer twilight
far across this empty lake
two or three voices
Sunlight creating
Crystals, dancing on the waves
Infinite Spirit
Flowers soaked in bleach -
The inviolate men drown
In floodtide waters.
Another evening...
A file of yellow poplars
under the spring rain
Creek water is high
Still enough space on warm rock
Turtle sleeps in sun
Rough water, summer
Spring. The splashing of children.
Tanning old women.
Heavy clouds spit rain
strong winds creating havoc
mother nature's rant
thunderstorm brewing
rain tapping at my window
the tea kettle hums
Seashore turtle clutch
Tight knit family unit
Hatchling swims away
the smell of chestnuts
roasting - on the cool sea mist
assaults my senses
burning horizons
shooting stars, electric rain
- cretaceous magic
roadside primroses
politely wave, passing car
unnoticed, alone
Turquoise feathers glint
Contemplating their kingdom
Jewels of the Lake
Drift in willow's weep,
Steeping in a bristling stream.
Intersections shift.
wet honeysuckles -
behind, the bay has vanished
in gray rain and fog
self-educated
the water buffalo knows
the rocky road home
Wash sin from his soul
Dipped into a river stream
Born into a lie
I am lost ashore
Waiting to return to sea
Heavy, sallow, raw.
Billowing white sheets
grow tame beneath the dark clouds
as the rain comes clean
sudden wind rises
tiny, silver ripples dance
across city pond
Low tide on the breeze
Sun inches up with promise
Salt troubles old wounds
the moon's scythe has cleaved
the pregnant lake to reveal
an indigo lust
cricket in my wall
safe from freezing rain and wind
calling for a friend
rain-filled clouds push in
blanketing a fiery sun.
unquenched light cascades...
Silver raindrop hangs
Sun-kissed, it falls to the wind
Carried down to earth
