At trail's crest, new views
Shining pond, dragonfly wings
Transcendent delights
Naturally led,
those who listen to nature
follow their heartbeat
lone cottonwood leaf
spirals in harsh summer heat
grass yellows loudly
Fall winds gust up skirts
Blowing high bright colored leaves
Exposing bare limbs.
Warm-stemmed mint wind bends
Soft purple bursts of crocus
White rain spits silver
late afternoon sun
through the used bookstore window
smell of old paper
Hibiscus flowers
Wither in the new darkness
Waiting for summer
jagged lightning streaks
scribble across darkened sky
low thunder mutters
Deer pause to listen -
Lullaby of wind whispers
Woodpecker applauds
Each day-night cycle
the earth turns itself around,
hokey pokey slave.
rusted yellow truck
in a dandelion field
how bright the noon sun
the groundskeeper roots
for the stray leaf skittering
from first to second
how the wide river
always submits to the sea
halo of the moon
Floating butterfly
Fresh feathery wings hold her
Poised in the blue sky
cold mists carry scent
satisfied in scarlet snow
memories of spring
ribbon of silver
sky tangles high-rise dreams whirl
balloon hearts take flight
fluttering leaves fall
creating blanket cover
now the earth can sleep
a flock of starlings,
just so, like flecks of pepper
sprinkled on the moon
the snail slips slowly
over a green garden hose
carrying its home
The chirping of birds
heard in a forest of books
calms a troubled soul
the lake is glass calm
shimmering in the moment
I am at peace, love
yellow sunflowers
paradise to many birds
turn to face the sun
the harvest moon shines
solitary traveler
stops to rest awhile
Twisted are my thoughts
Like branches from the forest
Yet budding with hope
saffroned winter sun
caught amid the leafless trees
sky of frosting clouds
earth bows to the sun
prelude to a masterpiece
spring fills its palette
geese fly overhead
at the cabin dusk settles
a silent river
Window candles glow
Lighthouse beams guide sailing ships
Moon plays with the stars
black skeleton trees
winter bones against the snow
frantic geese fly south
midnight serenade
velvet sky donned in diamonds
waltzing silouettes
caught yourself stumbling
I saw your shadow dance, love
with wild angel wings
bumbling on flowers
extracting precious nectar
bees feeding freely
From a wire fence
a rabbit slips underneath,
the garden thief rides.
Leaves swept into piles
Toddlers jump in to toss them
Happily scattered
above the waters,
over deciduous trees,
covenant rainbow
the last leaves of fall
selflessly fall giving way
to winter brethren
